Peter Draper is a brickie with a big heart.
He and his crew from Allbond Bricklaying have helped put a Nowra college on the road to success.
Yesterday Mr Draper and his wife Terry handed over the keys of a 21-seater mini-bus to Bill Campbell, the director of William Campbell College.
The college is a registered charity set up to provide long-term accommodation and agricultural education for neglected, abused and rejected children.
The ``recycled" bus, once used by Allbond to transport workers to Sydney, will now take children on school excursions.
``Peter and his workers have been extremely generous with their time and their help," Mr Campbell said.
``They helped lay the foundations for the college last month and now they have donated this bus."
Mr Draper said that after witnessing first-hand the hard work Mr Campbell had put in to set up a college he jumped at the chance to lend a hand again.
``This (bus) was sitting in the yard doing nothing and it made sense to give it to Bill," he said.
``We don't have a use for it any more and he had a need for it."
But Mr Draper brushed off suggestions of being a good Samaritan.
``I will leave that up to Bill, he has put all this time and effort in and if nobody supports him then it doesn't happen.
``It is a good feeling to know you can do something for a good cause."
Mr Campbell said the bus was a very generous donation which ``exemplified the level of community support we are getting".
The college, expected to be operational by October, was now advertising for house parents to take on a mother/father role and move into the cottage to help care for the children.
